When the platitudes fall short, but you’re still committed to God’s Word in life’s most painful valleys.

Three women silhouetted against a sunset in a mountainous landscape.

You want clinically sound care, from a biblical foundation.

But does that even exist?

Christian help shouldn’t be shame-based

Your faith is your most important part of your life. But lately you’ve been feeling distant and disconnected from God. Suffering has a way of doing that.

But when you try to talk to other Christians or even biblical counselors  about it, you’re left feeling shame. Maybe you hear platitudes or “advice” on how to try harder, or suffer better.

Sometimes friends’ words hurt, right at the toughest times

Like one who takes away a garment on a cold day, or like vinegar poured on a wound, is one who sings songs to a heavy heart. Proverbs 25:20

We’ll start by examining your pain points. We’ll also talk about any unwanted patterns you find yourself repeating.  From there, we’ll get down to the root, the origin, for healing.

The gardener said, ‘Let’s give it another year. I’ll dig around it and fertilize, and maybe it will produce next year; if it doesn’t, then chop it down.” -Luke 13:8-9 MSG

We’ll investigate your relationship with God, largely by talking about relationships you formed with your mom and dad, since we tend to view God through the lens of our early attachments.

Yet you brought me out of the womb; you made me trust in you, even at my mother’s breast. -Psalm 22:9 NIV

You’ll learn to take care of your body, emotions, and soul well.

But I have calmed and quieted myself, I am like a weaned child with its mother; like a weaned child I am content. -Psalm 131:2 NIV

And you’ll discover how to check in on yourself and learn tools to regulate when you’re not okay.

 FAQs

  • No. In fact, you must specifically request Christian counseling, as I will default to secular counseling first.

  • No, the Christian counseling I use is deeply rooted in new information we have from finally being able to study the brain via fMRIs to see what helps and what doesn’t. As trauma-informed counselors, we know what works from studying the brain’s real-time response to various treatments. Similar to how a heart doctor carefully and knowledgeably treats the heart. So I apply science-backed learning with a Christian perspective for healing and growth.

  • Yes, quite a significant difference. I have a Master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling and am an Associate Licensed Counselor under the supervision of Dana Hampson, LPC-S, MBA. The licensure process requires thousands of clinical hours to obtain. By contrast, “Biblical counselors” may or not be degreed, and have far fewer oversights to protect clients.
